Yesterday was the final day of the road race Tour of Good Hope.

Tenerife was amazing. Mostly because my everyday life was all about training and resting. Now I’m back in Denmark for a very short visit, with very restricted time on my bike and very much time doing other things in life, such as moving.
Nothing beats those first training rides in the sun. Coming straight from a dark, cold and wet cage, aka. Danish Winter, it feels extraordinarily liberating and transforming.
Early morning road tripping through the mist
A few weeks in Germany flew by. We got home last night just before midnight, unpacked the car, went to bed and slept for more than nine straight hours. I was quite tired. Even though sitting in a car an entire day isn’t physically hard, it just still drains your energy. I needed a proper sleep after the travel, so I set no alarm clock and told Thomas to not wake me this morning, in case he would wake up before me and see, that I looked like somebody who still needed her beauty sleep. He always laughs when I give him instructions like that. Wise man – he did not wake me up though (He probably knows, that in the end it’s beneficial for him too. I’m just so much more manageable to be around, when not sleep deprived).
We made it to the southern part of Germany near Bodensee. Not the most traditional place for going training this time of year, since you can easily find places with better weather and warmer temperatures. Our mission next to new training environment (and hopefully a couple of days skiing) is to search for a more permanent residence abroad upon my return to Europe after the Cape Epic in March (Btw. Race calendar is up to date, find it above).
Oh yes, back in Denmark and back into daily routines for a few days. World Champs is over, and even though my hand luggage on the homebound flight contained a Team Relay silver medal, I have to be honest and say that my World Champs was a bitter sweet feeling.
A historic day for Danish Mountain Bike with a silver medal at the team relay! Moreover this medal kicks off our World Champs in the best possible manner and gives all riders a huge motivational boost for our upcoming individual World Championships races.
Yesterday I won a World Cup, a freaking World Cup! And it’s still very unbelievable to me. (more…)
